If you're an ecommerce store owner who sells t-shirts and you use a print-on-demand service to fulfill your orders like I do, then you'll want to create mockups of your t-shirt designs so that you can use them on your product pages, in social media posts, and in advertising. Online t-shirt mockup generators can help you create images of your t-shirt designs and even help you create images of models wearing your t-shirt designs (no need to pay to hire models for your clothing line!).
I've tried out several t-shirt mockup generators over the past several years that I've run my print-on-demand apparel businesses. Here are 4 of the best t-shirt mockup generators that I've used.
The best tee shirt mockup generators that I've used have a variety of scenes and models to choose from, allow you to specify the color of the t-shirt in the mockup, and allow you to upload and adjust your t-shirt's design on the model in the mockup. They also don't require you to download any software. You can use all of these t-shirt mockup generators in your browser and download your t-shirt mockup designs from your browser.
Placeit is my #1 go-to to create mockups of my t-shirt designs. There are thousands of t-shirt mockups you can use for your ecommerce shop. I love that you can select the type of t-shirt, gender, age, ethnicity, and type of scene you are looking for. I also love that when you are editing the mockup you can change the background of the image if you prefer a different one. I've found the pricing of Placeit to be the best value for creating an unlimited amount of high-quality mockups for my ecommerce stores. Check out Placeit's t-shirt mockup generator here.
When you're on the t-shirt mockup page on Placeit's site, you can select the type of t-shirt you want to create a mockup of (crew neck, v-neck, crop top, heather, or sublimated) at the top of the page.
You can then select the gender, age, ethnicity, and type of scene for your mockup in the left menu.
Once you find an image that you like, you'll want to click on the image in order to customize it with your t-shirt design. On the editor page, you can select your t-shirt color on the right and add your t-shirt design on the left. Once you have your t-shirt mockup how you want it, you can click on the "Download" button above the image in order to download the customized image to your computer.

A Placeit subscription is $7.47 per month.
Smartmockups has over 900 t-shirt mockups that you can customize with your own t-shirt designs. There are quite a few t-shirt mockups of just a t-shirt without a model in addition to t-shirt mockups that include models. Check out the Smartmockups t-shirt mockup generator here. When you arrive on the site, you'll want to hover over "Apparel" in the top navigation and then click on "T-shirts" in order to view the t-shirt mockup options.
When you're on the t-shirt mockup page on the Smartmockups site, you'll see a variety of ways to drill down the images to find the ones you're looking for.
Click on an image you like in order to customize it with your t-shirt design. You can upload your custom design, customize the fabric, and choose your t-shirt color. Once you have your t-shirt mockup how you'd like it to look, you can click on the "Download" button in order to download the t-shirt mockup to your computer.

Mediamodifier has over 400 t-shirt mockup images to choose from. There are several t-shirt mockups of t-shirts in curated scenes without a model in addition to mockups that include models. Check out Mediamodifier's T-shirt mockup generator here. When you're on the t-shirt mockup generator page on the Mediamodifier website, you can scroll through the mockup image options until you see one you would like to use.
Click on the image you would like to use for your t-shirt mockup. On the editor page for the mockup, you can add your design, change the shirt color, and remove the scene if you just want the t-shirt in the mockup. One aspect of uploading your t-shirt design to Mediamodifier that is different than the t-shirt mockup generators previously mentioned is that your design image should be the dimensions indicated on the editor page, which may vary for each mockup. When you are happy with how your t-shirt mockup looks, you can click on the download button in order to download the image directly to your computer.

There are multiple Renderforest subscription options. The Pro subscription includes 50 high-quality mockup downloads per month and is $49.99 per month or $239.88 per year. The Agency subscription includes unlimited high-quality mockup downloads and is $599.88 per year.
I use t-shirt mockup generators instead of hiring models or doing photoshoots of t-shirts because I save time and money on images for my ecommerce stores. I can literally go online and download all of the images I need for a brand in about an hour for less than $100 using Placeit. The downsides of using mockup generators are that I don't have as much control over the composition of the images or the look of the models and the images are used by other brands. To me, the benefits of using t-shirt mockup generators outweight the downsides and that is why I stick to using mockup generators as much as possible for my ecommerce print-on-demand brands.
